Privacy Policy for the Fr. Harvey Daily Prayer App

Welcome to the Fr. Harvey Daily Prayer App, available on the Google Play Store.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the App.

The App itself does not collect any personal data from users during normal use, except for limited device information needed to send daily push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), a Google service. 

Also, if you choose to sign up for our optional free Guild membership through the app, we will collect limited personal information as described below to fulfill membership benefits such as sending you free prayer cards and a Guild medal, and a free electronic newsletter.

By using the App or signing up for Guild membership, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App or provide any personal information.

 

1. Information We Collect

We only collect personal information if you voluntarily choose to sign up for our free Guild membership or enable push notifications. No data is collected automatically or required for basic App functionality.

  • Personal Data for Guild Membership: 

    • Your full name

    • Your postal address (for shipping free items)

    • Your email address (for sending the electronic newsletter)

    • Device Information for Notifications: A Firebase Installation ID (FID), which is a unique identifier for your device, to enable delivery of daily push notifications. This is generated when you grant notification permission and shared with Google.

We do not collect any other personal information, such as usage analytics, location data, or payment details. We do not use cookies, trackers, or third-party analytics in the App.

To send daily prayer reminders, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). When you opt in to notifications via your device settings, we generate and transmit an FID to Google solely for routing messages to your device. Notification content does not include personal data. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or the App, which will stop FID usage.

 


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information you provide for free Guild membership solely to:

  • Process and ship your free Guild items (prayer cards and medal) to your provided address.

  • Send you the free electronic newsletter via email.

  • Communicate with you as needed about your membership, such as confirmation emails or updates related to Guild benefits and activities.

  • Deliver daily push notifications to your device using the FID (if enabled).

 

3. Disclosure and Sharing of Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

For notifications, we share your FID with Google (Firebase) solely to deliver messages; Google acts as our data processor and does not use it for other purposes. See Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy for details on their practices.

We do not share your information with affiliates, business partners, or other users.

 

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. This includes secure storage of data on encrypted servers and secure transmission methods. For FIDs, Google provides industry-standard security for FCM data.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy: 

  • For shipping physical items: prayer cards, Guild medal, and possibly other occasional gifts

  • For eNewsletters: Until you unsubscribe or request deletion

  • For notifications: The FID is retained only while notifications are enabled; we delete it upon opt-out, and Google removes it within 180 days.

  • For record-keeping: to keep an accurate count of Guild members/those who are praying regularly for the opening of Father Harvey’s cause for beatification

You may unsubscribe from the eNewsletter at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any eNewsletter we send. We will assume you still wish to be considered a Guild member even after unsubscribing from the eNewsletter, unless you specifically request discontinuation of your free Guild membership.

You may revoke your free Guild membership and request removal of your data from our records at any time, by contacting us at info@frjohnharvey.com.

You may disable push notifications via your device settings, which stops FID collection and sharing.
